First Boeing airplane! Lake Union, Seattle<\/p><\/div>\n

I’ve been watching the lake come to life this spring – more birds, more boats, more planes.\u00c2\u00a0 Spring always makes me think of “beginnings,” but it got me thinking about history, too.\u00c2\u00a0 What’s come before.\u00c2\u00a0 (pretty philosophical for a Doberman, don’t you think?!)<\/p>\n

Did you know that the Boeing Company started on Lake Union?\u00c2\u00a0 Did you know there have been seaplanes operating here since 1914?\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0 The first seaplane flight from Lake Union happened in 1914, and then in 1916, Mr Bill Boeing flew his first plane, the B1, from his dock at the foot of Roanoke Street.\u00c2\u00a0 The Boeing company trained pilots for World War I, and then after that, developed its own airline.\u00c2\u00a0 Did you know that United Airlines was what the Boeing airline turned into?\u00c2\u00a0 I think that’s pretty cool.<\/p>\n
