Gimme five!!<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Hey, everybody,<\/p>\n<p>As summer is starting to wind down, we have a pilot whose flying life is just starting up!\u00c2\u00a0 My friend Alex flew his first solo flight!<\/p>\n<p>The solo flight is a very important <a href=\"http:\/\/www.avweb.com\/news\/skywrite\/192513-1.html\">rite of passage <\/a>for a pilot, but that probably goes without saying.\u00c2\u00a0 It&#8217;s important for a pilot to become comfortable and confident in the airplane without an instructor on board.\u00c2\u00a0 And when you&#8217;re a smooth, skilled pilot like Alex, it looks easy!\u00c2\u00a0 (He reports he was pretty nervous, but you&#8217;d never be able to tell.)<\/p>\n<p>Alex attends <a href=\"http:\/\/ballardhs.seattleschools.org\/\">Ballard High School <\/a>(go Beavers), and will be able to go back to school with the coolest &#8220;what I did on my summer vacation&#8221; story &#8212; &#8220;Yeah, I flew an airplane all by myself.\u00c2\u00a0 And they let me do it again, too!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Alex, when he&#8217;s not flying, is probably playing <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Lacrosse\">lacrosse<\/a>, or maybe working on video clips.\u00c2\u00a0 I&#8217;m glad he&#8217;s flying with us, and I&#8217;m proud to call him my friend.<\/p>\n<p>Congratulations, Alex!!<\/p>\n<p><em>cheers,<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Toby James<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hey, everybody, As summer is starting to wind down, we have a pilot whose flying life is just starting up!\u00c2\u00a0 My friend Alex flew his first solo flight!
